Stripe and PayPal: differences and setup
To pay for your NoraPix package, and optionally also for your own online shop, you can choose between Stripe and PayPal, two of the most widely used payment providers in the world. In this article we explain the key differences and how to set up each one.
Stripe in detail
Stripe enables direct payment by credit or debit card, without the customer ever leaving your checkout or logging into a separate platform. For cardholders in the European Union, 3D Secure protection is built in as well, requiring an additional confirmation through a banking app or SMS during payment. This is legally required and simultaneously protects against fraudulent payments.
PayPal in detail
With PayPal, the customer pays through their existing PayPal account, without entering any card details at all. For many users who already know PayPal from everyday life, this path feels especially familiar and fast. PayPal itself handles the complete security of the payment.
Which provider fits you best?
Ideally you offer both options to your customers at the same time, so everyone can choose whichever payment method feels most convenient to them. Some customers always prefer PayPal, others would rather pay directly by card through Stripe. The more choice you offer, the lower the chance that a purchase gets abandoned simply because a preferred payment option was missing.
Setting it up in your dashboard
To use either provider, you first need your own account with Stripe or PayPal respectively. The credentials you receive there are then entered under Payment Settings in your dashboard. Make sure to use only your real, live credentials, not any test credentials, since otherwise no real payments can be processed.
Auto renewal is possible with both providers
With both Stripe and PayPal you can set up your own NoraPix package so it renews automatically, meaning you do not need to manually take care of payment after every single period. You can read exactly how that works in the next article.
